An Open Letter to Mother Nature

Dear Mother Nature Dispatch Department,

Thank you for your recent delivery of rain.

I am writing because your delivery docket does not seem to match the purchase form we have on file. Actually, the amount you have delivered is approximately 1 billion times more than we ordered and we now find ourselves in a position of surplus.

Your data entry must be incorrect as I can clearly see that we have ordered only one portion of July’s average rainfall yet you seem to have delivered 100 portions.

As I am unable to return the excess, we are now experiencing a storage issue as we struggle to absorb your oversupply. I would like to respectfully request that you immediately cease and desist with any further deliveries until we can reconcile the dissimilarities between our systems.

I also note that we ordered, under separate cover, a good supply of July’s average sunshine which you have failed to deliver. Please make arrangements to rectify this shortfall immediately.

Thank you very much for your immediate attention to this matter.

Yours sincerely,
Sydney Receiving Department
