Thankful Thursday

Today I am linking up with Kate Says Stuff for Thankful Thursday.

There are many things in my life I am thankful for but, in particular, today I will single out the following for a special mention:

  1. Modern conveniences: having had a variety of children in and out of my house this school holidays, plus a trip away to Grandma’s, I’m realising just how many clothes my girls can wear in a week (particularly when the week doesn’t include school uniforms). Multiple changes of clothes throughout the day, plus dress up activity, have filled our washing baskets to maximum capacity. So today I am thanking my lucky stars that we have a washing machine and dryer with which to cope with such an influx.
  2. Husbands who are not arachnophobes: and who are willing to get up at 7am to deal with a dinner-plate sized huntsman spider.
  3. Home-made pizza: versatile, customisable, caters to fussy eaters, quick, simple – all of these things, and more.
  4. Modern technology: two distressed (no, I’m really not exaggerating here) children who missed Junior Masterchef on Monday night were able to catch up online on Tuesday.
  5. Mother Nature: after dumping on us over the long weekend, we’ve survived 4 days without rain and the pool people are making amazing progress in the trashed backyard.

My life has been extremely hectic over the last couple of weeks – work, pool, kids, more work, bills and tax returns have all conspired to provide me with more balls than I can safely juggle at one time. In imminent danger of dropping a significant handful, I think it’s timely to stop and ‘find the good’. I live an incredibly blessed life and many of my perceived ‘problems’ are merely bumps along the road we call life. Being forced to sit down and come up with a list of things for which you are thankful is a very welcome reality check – I really should do it more often.

What are you thankful for this Thursday?

The message on my answering machine from a dear friend suggesting a catch up. A chance to down tools in our busy lives, live in the moment and enjoy our children laughing, whilst having a cuppa.

I have been feeing like I have more balls than I can juggle too lately, it is very good to remember to stop and be thankful for what we have when feeing overwhelmed 🙂

Stopping and ‘smelling the roses’ is one of the more difficult tasks I find to schedule in my busy day – but, when I do, I’m always so glad I did 🙂

What great perspective you have to just note the difficulties as little ‘bumps’. Good on you for seeing the positive in life. And yes, thank goodness for modern technology 😉

I don’t always retain that perspective but, when I have it, I try to hang on to it – all too soon it seems to disappear 🙂

Ooh I just shuddered at the hunstman description. I’m grateful for a hub who is happy to deal with them, and an 8yo son who is too when the Daddy is away!

We’ve been so busy too, overwhelmingly so it seems. And yes, perfect time to stop and appreciate the good things we have going on 🙂

    Thankyou for linking up today!

I sometimes wish for a son for that very reason! But my two girls are as useless as I am when it comes to spiders (of any description)!

It’s great to have perspective and to be able to appreciate the big picture despite all the small bumps that we encounter along the way – that’s something that I need to work on myself

I rather suspect that getting perspective will be a constant work in progress for me but I’ll stick at it. Good luck and thanks for dropping by.
